Who We Are

Pierce Cedar Creek Institute is a nonprofit environmental education center located on 742 acres in Southwest Barry County with a mission to inspire the appreciation and stewardship of our environment.  The Institute has nearly 10 miles of trails through beautiful and varied habitats, including wetlands, prairies, and old growth forests that are open daily from dawn until dusk at no charge.

Programs are offered throughout the year for members and the public covering a variety of topics, and include hikes, workshops, speakers, cooking classes, art programs, and brunches.

What We Do

Pierce Cedar Creek Institute is a mix between a nature center, retreat facility, and biological field station.  The Institute provides housing and research support to over 20 students and faculty members from 14 different colleges and universities that make up the Pierce Cedar Creek Consortium.  Students spend the summer at the Institute conducting research projects in the fields of science, art, and writing.

The Institute is also a nature center with over 500 members and provides a variety of hikes and programs throughout the four seasons. Businesses and individuals can rent the facilities for day-long or overnight meetings, retreats, and celebrations.

Pierce Cedar Creek Institute is open year-round and relies on a large cadre of volunteers to help meet its mission of inspiring the appreciation and stewardship of the environment.
